Star Bag

A small beaded bag with twisted cord from the Jaeger Accessories Book, knitted in Jaeger Pure Cotton DK (discontinued yarn) with beads from the Tokyo Bead Shop in NY. I followed the pattern instructions and knitting on straight needs, before mattress stitching together. Jaeger Pure Cotton DK is similar in tension to Rowan Glace and thicker than the original 4 ply yarn that the pattern called for.

By using a sportweight yarn, this bag come up bigger, in fact, big enough for the Lizzie Scarf. I really love the Jaeger Pure Cotton and was very sad to see it discontinued. It's not without it's faults, as the yarn is rather tempermental and has a tendency to split like linen drape. It's also very slippery, but the sheen is fabulous. At approx 15% cheaper than glace with the same meterage, it's a good value yarn...and it knits quickly.

I must get more of these glass beads next time I'm in NY. They go well with just about any kind of yarns. Such versatility should not be under-rated, especially, when you have to whip up something quickly and add a bit of twinkle.

Project Notes

1. I love the edging and I will reuse it to make a dressy beaded baby sweater.

Edging

2. The stars are really dramatic, I would do this bag and if I don;t have enough beads, I would centre the star on the front and back

Star light, star bright ...
