Squiggle Socks

A pair of UK size 10.5 men's sock in a 5x1 rib with purl patterned detail, knitted on 2.25mm needles using a Regia Shadow wool. Adding the purl pattern made the knitting a bit more interesting and helped me to keep track of the number of rows between the first and second sock. I just can't be bothered with a row counter. When doing large size socks, I always worry about running out of wool, to counter this, I planned for contrasting heels and toes. Actually, I had such a nightmare with the Wickerware socks that I decided that I wouldn't chance running out of wool.

Here's a chart of the pattern that I used, see what I mean by subtle? My husband is not very adventurous about colour and pattern, but the burgundy and subtle striping is still conservative.

I snuck these socks onto a flight from London to NY. I was hoping that the plastic needles would not show up on the x-ray machines, but they did. Fortunately, the supervisor was called over and recognised that these plastic needles were harmless (or maybe I looked relatively harmless) and I was able to bring them with me.
