Raindrop Lace Socks

A lacy sock pattern from Fiber Trend that was amended slightly to have a cuff. I also knitted these on a tigher gauge so I had to add 2 additional repeats.

This is a wonderfully simple lace texture pattern from Fiber Trend. I think that it would had worked better using a light colour, single toned yarn, as opposed to the marl yarn that I had picked. With this yarn the pattern is very subtle and you can't obviously see the lace patterns until you put it on. Personally, I lke the rather subtle effect, but you might think that after all the work, you want to see the pattern much more clearly.

Lang Jawoll Cotton is an interesting yarn to work with. It's got 45g of yarn per skein + 5g of reinforcing nylon. I used the nylon just for the toes and the heel turning. As I used a heel stitch for the heel flap, it was fairly well enforced already. I used a very little bit of the thread. Didn't even finish the second spool. If you're going to do large socks on the tension that I did, you'll need 3 skeins. 2 skeins was just enough for these socks. With a 7 inch leg, I had about 10 grams left over. The yarn is wonderfully soft and I love this neutral shade.

Project Notes

1. I cast on 72 stitches for the leg. The cuff was ribbed for 1 inch *k3,p1,k3,p2* repeat * to *

2. The pattern works out to be fairly stretchy. Before blocking, you can see that the fabric really pulls in. The lace is very easy to memorise, but you need to be careful as Row 2 gives you 2 additional stitches per repeat, so extra stitches don't necesarrily mean that you've got it wrong.

3. After blocking, you can see the lace if you look very carefully.
