Johnny Socks

A pair of UK size 11 men's sock in a twisted stitch pattern knitted on 2.25mm needles using a Regia Tweed wool. This was an interesting pattern to do and once I completed the first repeat, it was easy to do without looking at the pattern every few minutes. Jackie E-S provides both charted (which I prefer) and written instructions. It's hard finding interesting texture sock patterns for men, made more challenging by the men that I knit for, prefer dark colours and rib.

I have a large flatbed scanner and I couldn't get the whole pair in. I do hope my father-in-law likes them.

Project Notes

1. I made very few changes to the pattern, although I did consider casting on another repeat. I made the leg about an inch longer by doing 1.75 repeats instead of 1.5 repeats. This was really to balance out the length of the foot. I also did 6 extra rows on the heel flap. As usual, I carried the pattern down the foot.

Edging

2. Here's a close-up of the swatch. Hard to see on dark wool and I really cranked up the light on the scanner.

What do you think?.
