Beaded Heart Bag

A great primer project that incorporates many techniques (fair isle, beading, intarsia) as well as uses up oddment yarns, left over from other projects. The bag is the perfect size to fit a pair of socks and I used this one as the wrapping for the Gull Wing Socks.

Project Notes

1. Rowan Glace and Jaeger Pure Cotton (discontinued) knits to the same tension and are both mercerised cottons. I tend to use them interchangeably. I have quite a bit of the Pure Cotton in stash and although it is more splitty than the Glace, it's less pricey and the result is very similar.

2. Instead of picking up the stitches from the bottom of the bag and knitting up for the second side of the page, I used a provisional cast on and did an extra row to avoid doing the beads on the purl row.

3. For a larger size bag, just use a thicker yarn.

4. I finished off with a twisted cord and strung the remaining beads on the ends.
