Friday Harbor

A chunky lacy pattern by Nancy Bush. The picture in the book really doesn't do it justice.

I'm really not sure how Nancy Bush managed to do this sock in the Weaver's Wool. I could not get the sock to be big enough using sport or DK weight wool. In the end, I went with the heavier Cascade 220, but still found the cuff to be too tight. It's a bit of a coup (and a lot of ripping and reknitting) to get this sock to work with just one skein. I think there was about 3 meters of yarn left when I was done. Cascade 220 superwash is a great yarn. It's soft and superwash, so very usable for sock yarn.

Project Notes

1.Got rid of the scalloped cuff. It wasn't stretchy enough.

2. Used 2 strands of Sunbeam St Ives to get the right tension. This solved the pesky issue of wear (the nylon content makes these 'wear' poing much more durable.) and enabled me to use something from stash as opposed to buy more yarn and and have issues with dyelot and the cost to shipping it to the UK from the US.

Here's the artsy shot.
