Elizabeth Zimmermann's Lacy Circular Yoke Baby Cardigan

Elizabeth Zimmermann promises a fast and easy baby cardigan and she delivers on that. It's knitted top-down and has only 2 seams to sew (on the sleeves). The instructions are not that precise and there are no schematics but the end result is charming and the knitter is invited to think and experiment.

Kisiizi Appeal

I've been obsessed with the EZ circular yoke lace cardigan for a while and finally bought Knitter's Almanac a few weeks ago. The book is delightful and inspite of my initial misgivings about it being black and white, without schematics and vague sizing/material requirements, I love it. Now, I did honestly buy it for just one pattern, but found that there are several that I may knit, so it's really bargain

This is the February project. Working on this reminds me how much I love the All Season's Cotton. It's spongy and soft, soft, soft, perfect for a baby's delicate skin

I frogged another project and reused the yarn. I'm so glad that I was able to make something with it and not have it just sit around as stash

Project Notes

1. I should had spaced the buttons every 8 rows as directed, but I did 6 rows , so had to buy more buttons. I chose the 8 darkest wood buttons that I could find.

Embossed Leaf Lace

2. The finished garment is 24 inches on the chest (unstretched) but could easily accommodate another 2-3 inches. This is a stretchy lace! It measures 12 inches from neck to hem.

3. I had nearly a full skein of ASC left after the cardigan and even managed to eke out a hat.
If you want to make one, it's dead easy
