Digger

An intarsia sweater that all little boys with a love of big machines will like. There is a problem with the pattern. Buy at least 1 extra ball of the background colour if you do the largest size. I would recommend getting 2 extra balls, because I ended up using the equivalent of an extra ball of glacé.

The knitting was easy, the finishing was a slog.

Project Notes

1. Love the charts. Some small changes and a bit of swiss darning can be done to reduce the number of balls of yarn that you have to deal with simultanteously.

2. All ends should be neatly darned by into the outline

3. The yoke is pretty cool. It's a garter stripe. A design feature that adds lovely texture.

4. To avoid cutting the main colour yarn on the body (because you will have 2 extra ends to sew in), use circular needles. After working 1 row of the Red yarn, turn the needles around and continue with main colour.

5. I also added the sing row red stripe on the sleeves, because I like symettry.

Here's the artistic pose...as artistic as I can do at 1am in the morning with a flight the next day
