Bergere De France's Cho'7 is a 'new to me' yarn. It's actually a sportweight not a sock weight... and the meterage is a bit touch and go.
What I really like about it though, is the name. Cho'7 pronounced in French chaussette (socks). Cool, don't you think?

Yarn handle is OK. Not as nice as the regia but this blue is gorgeous... and 2 skeins is enough for a pair of woman's medium. Price-wise, it's moderate (retails £7.00 per 100g ). I do like that it's packaged in 50g balls, because 150g balls always leaves me with approx 50g untouched.

Plain yarns are great for textured patterns like this one. I know that the Cho'7 doesn't have a great reputation for wear, but I'm hoping these would be fine for winter bed socks.

ETA: the pattern is Hedgerow Socks By Jane Cochran
I bought some Cho'7 when I lived in France last year. The socks have held up fairly well, although there has been some piling on the heels.
Posted by: Kathryn at July 26, 2010 04:27 AMThose are lovely socks and that color is yummy. Extra points for the play-on-words name of the yarn. I love cleverness with words. I am hoping that it is because it is early in the morning that I looked at the name and thought, "Cho-seven? That makes no sense!"
Thank heavens you were there to save me!

Posted by: Daisy at July 23, 2010 01:39 PMLovely socks & I love that shade of blue. Great name for a sock yarn & I have not seen this yarn before.
Posted by: Ann Lim at July 23, 2010 12:47 AMThey turned out wonderfully! Love the color, too!
Posted by: Kathy at July 22, 2010 03:39 PMLovely blue, Polly. I'm attempting various blues myself but the brighter peacock blues fight back!! For some reason they can be really tricky to dye. The pattern is lovely too - is it your own?
Clever naming is always a good sign, or so I think ;)
They look really lovely, and I'll hope along with you that the wear is good.
