A long, long time ago, I used to be a sweater knitter. I remember sitting in Liberty, chatting with Dawn. I thought it 'amusing' that she made all those lovely socks and shawls but found sweater knitting boring (something about a back and front and then 2 sleeves). Nope, that won't be me, I though, a little smugly. Socks, you can buy them in the shop cheaply. Shawls? Stoles? yes, the occasional one, but why would one make all those shawls, what would you do with them?
Fast forward, a few years ... 2009 was a year of socks... and shawls? I have half a drawer full of them. So this year, I'm joining IntSweMoDo2010, in hope that I'll get a few jumpers for me. I have piles of yarn saved for sweater, but funny thing that, it never seems to be the right yarn.
Like the little tee... in sportweight. I don't have much yarn in sportweight (tons in other weight though). I really think it's cute, and I would definitely repeat the cabling on the back, like Ann did, opt for 3/4 length sleeves and do away with the moss panel in front.

I also want to do Joy. It's been on my list for ages...and I've even located my Navy Denim.
Then there is Hildegard. I love this pattern and have the yarn for this, some navy Patons Cotton DK...but it's navy and I'm doing Joy in navy. Navy isn't the friendliest colour to knit in...and how am I going to maintain my sanity, let alone interest, if I were to knit 2 garments in navy.
Then I saw this and I love it, so it's definitely on my list now.
There is also Ardent, Nico and Ariann, all waiting in the wings, not the mention the tangled Yoke cardigan and Thermal.
As I try to plan my 12 projects, I come to the conclusion that I am destined to fail... so I went and ripped my too small owls, when I knew in my heart that the road to success was to only pick chunky projects and just approach this knit-along, one project at a time
Beware! you'll be sucked in and find that it's not 12 you've planned, but 24, when you see everyone's garments!
What about Felted Tweed knited on smaller needles, or Baby Cashmerino as sportweight?
I'm on #2 (still have to buy buttons for #1) and it's garter stitch, felted tweed, boring!
Posted by: dawn at January 24, 2010 07:38 PMThat's a nice list of projects & I am sure you can do it. I am currently into top down garment knitting so that I can minimise seaming & I just love it.
Posted by: Ann Lim at January 23, 2010 12:39 AMI think Dawn calls it enabling - inspiring others to do similar projects. Even I've joined 2 kals this year. Mainly cause I so rarely see any of you from Libertys and I want to join in with other knitters. I love the Tee it will look great on you.

Posted by: Sarah at January 19, 2010 02:00 PMDawn and the old Liberty's group have a lot of knitting ambitions to answer for! Your list contains some wonderful designs, I'll look forward to seeing your progress and the finished articles.
