The first FO of the new year! These were also the first new thing that I cast on in the new year.
The pattern is Undulating Ribs by Ann Budd. Surprisingly, the pattern recommended knitting on 3.50mm needles.. which is HUGE. I suspect Ann Budd must have the world's tightest tension. I did mine on 2.50 mm. I cast on 72 sts and decreasedto 66 sts, since I did a slightly longer leg than I usually do.

I love the colour, so bright. Definitely, a good thing for dark winter days. It wasn't clear to me, if there was a pattern repeat at all, so I didn't bother matching them. Then, half way down the second leg, I noticed that there was a repeat ... and I debated as to whether or not to rip back. In the end, I left them as fraternal.

I am not happy with these photos. Too much snow and cold to go outside... and too dark in the house to do this yarn justice (flash tends to wash out the colours). Its feel rather virtuous using a skein from stash.
ETA: the yarn is Trekkings Ombres ... and I know that some of you won't believe it, but, YES, YES, YES they are for ME!

Posted by: Anita at January 11, 2010 01:23 PMLovely Polly. Which yarn is that? Is it the Noro sock? The colours are lovely.
Posted by: Helen at January 11, 2010 08:59 AMLovely bright colors, they must be cheery in this weather :-) and this pattern adds just enough move to the colors; nice!
Posted by: Stéphanie at January 11, 2010 08:19 AMThey're very nice, very bright for this weather!.I seem to remember that most of her patterns in the book have large needles. This weather is terrible for taking photos, I've been forced to stand outside in the cold!
