Oh you soxy thing!

I know that I said that I was sick of socks after the 52 Pair Plunge 2, but I didn't mean that I was NOT GOING TO KNIT of socks, anymore. Still love them for their portability and diversion from miles of stocking stitch.

Anyway, here's Sunshine, foot #1. I'm working this in an old regia colourway. I'm not a big fan of white yarns, but I do have a soft spot for naturals.

It's my first pair from the Cookie A book, Sock Innovation. It's a great book with gorgeous patterns ( I, so heart Cookie A)... but I wished that Interweave hadn't rushed it to print because there are a lot of errors in there. It's disheartening to me (merely, the knitter) so I can only imagine how disheartening for the designer (who spent ages designing, knitting swatches, writing it all up) to know that people are not happy because of errors.

Officially, there isn't any errors in Sunshine.. unofficially, there might be one. Look at the chart for the set-up row and how that rolls into the leg pattern. Do you think that, that's the wrong cable symbol?

As to the socky thing ...

She seemed most indignant, that I would want to work on Grace. Of all the places she can put her furry behind, she always chooses a piece of knitting.

Ah Polly, she does look very comfortable there. Her fur has such pretty colours. I think I would find it hard to nudge her gently off my knitting...

that is why cats are attracted to textile crafts people.. they produce such lovely things to sleep on. Our cat at the workshop loves to sleep on the loom - on the woven fabric. She has never broken any warp threads, only added a bit of extra fluff to the surface.

Lovely sock & I can't imagine you not knitting socks - you are a sock addict! Love the scarf too.

I am really annoyed by the fact that the book does not offer other sizes. I think its lazy and with such complex patterns, I don't really want to have to resize and rewrite

I'm not surprised that with the pressure off from 52PP and the inspiration of that lovely book you are knitting more socks.

I understand just what you mean about the errata situation. I'm just glad that I have improved more as a knitter so that I can usually figure out what to do on my own.

My kitties always bed down on whatever quilt I am currently working on. If there is no quilt, then they will resort to my knitting. Do your cats follow you into the bathroom or are my cats just weird? My little black kitten will go so far as to open the bathroom door to gain access.
I haven't started knitting any of Cookie's socks yet....I am disappointed to hear that there are errors. I hope an errata page will be posted so that I can print it and add it to the book for future reference.

Lovely sock, lovely garment and lovely cat! I agree with the Cookie A pattern errata - it is as bad as the first edition of Gathering of Lace! Not impressed with Interweave!

I'm glad you are still knitting socks--they are inspiring! :)

And I agree with you about the books rushed into print and riddled with errors. How disheartening for all concerned! I make it a practice to check publishers websites for errata, but often the fixes just aren't there. Designers websites are a good source, as they have more pride in their work.

However, there have been a number of times where I have beaten my head up against the wall of "it must be me who doesn't understand" when confronted with something that just doesn't make sense.

I think that, more and more, the download model will take over in publishing and this will be a boon to crafters since errata can be sent out to purchasers with the onus on designers and/or publishers.
