Humbled

Nothing more humbling than trying to master a new skill

I reckon that by the time that I finish this blanket, I'll be an expert with dc and ch.

I can knit while watching tv or reading, but this seems impossible with crochet. don't look closely, there are quite few boo-boos.

Good for you - it's always good to have a go at a new skill. I can only do the most basic crochet - just can't retain the knowledge somehow. I have a friend who can crochet whilst she chats, watches television, reads, looks after four boisterous children. Don't know how she does it....

That's the main reason why I am always hesitant to commit to a major crochet project -- you can't hook without looking closely at the work!

Good luck! :)

I guess it takes time to learn a new skill & it's great that you are trying. I tried crochet before but gave up as it was too difficult to control the yarn on the left hand. Keep on trying.

Practice makes perfect, but I'm sorry to tell you that I still have to look where I put that hook, even after 20 years of crocheting. If I don't hit the right spot it can get wonky fast.

Hang in there, though - once you get the sc and dc down, your projects will just fly along - those blankets just spill out of your lap.

I looks pretty. I can't read while knitting or crocheting, so you are one up on me! I find that I can knit without looking because I guide the needle along the other needle. With crochet there is not that large solid guide to work by feel.

It looks great! Crochet is my "thing" - I just recently taught myself to knit and I"m asking myself the same questions you are - when, if ever, will I get to be able to look up from my work?
I can watch TV, have conversations - and crochet complicated patterns... but not with knit... must seek stitches (seeking.. because I still cannot See them!)
Dont give up! It gets faster as you go - you'll be looking up from your work in no time!

It looks good so far to me. I am the same way with crochet. I must look at what I am doing, and I think I have to count as I go, too.

ah, the boo-boos are your "artistic trademark". Good luck on your crochet.
