1. TOFUtsies - great fabric but very splitty
2. Trekkings ProNatura - a bit splitty to work with and fabric a bit itchy
3. Jojoland Melody - there were some very thin patches and I had to reinforce part of the sole.
4. Lana Grossa Meilenweit 100 Fantasy - I lumped this in the rest of the German yarns, but I didn't like it because it was spotty in places
My favourite yarns
1. Tess's design sock yarns

3. Arcania Ranco
4. Colinette Jitterbug (I don't think that theyll hold up that well to wear)

The fun part were the brother socks....

... and the mother/daughter socks

Well, I have to say, probably never again. I'm much too obsessive to join and not try my hardest to finish. This adds a lot of stress amd some guilt when I feel myself tempted to start other things. Its been fun though and I did manage to knit up rather a lot of my stash. It's still a big stash but sockwise, I've made a tiny dent.
I do so admire perserverance, having so little myself! You set yourself a tremendous goal and it was a pleasure for me to follow your progress. You should be pleased and proud of your accomplishment! Good job!!
Posted by: Rosemarie at June 4, 2009 03:08 AMWOW !!
Posted by: Laura at June 2, 2009 10:36 PMWow! It's been an amazing journey watching you knit all those socks (and constantly hoping you had a live-in massage therapist!) It will be fun to see what you knit now that you're through with the 52 socks. Congratulations on all the beautiful socks you've created.
Posted by: Jennifer at May 31, 2009 10:14 PMWhat a lot of wonderful socks. It is nice to hear about what you are knitting and your opinions on the yarns.

Posted by: Kathryn at May 30, 2009 01:59 AMWay to go! I've had fun reading along for the past year. I was living vicariously through you b/c I know I did NOT have the time to even attempt such a goal! What will the next project be?
Posted by: Sara at May 29, 2009 10:05 PMTalk about TRIPPING THE LIGHT FANTASTIC!
I have knitted one sock, so I know how difficult it is.
Makes for a wonderful post.
Wow, absolutely fabulous. Are you ever going to knit another sock?

Posted by: Nan at May 27, 2009 04:25 AMYou are my Goddess today! 52 pairs of socks in one year!
I could do that, too......if I did absolutely NOTHING else all year (including bathing, eating, sleeping.....) You seemed to manage to have a life, too.

Posted by: Alyson at May 27, 2009 03:29 AMCongratulations, Polly! This is such an impressive accomplishment, and a lovely collection of socks. I have enjoyed watching this journey.
Posted by: Sarah at May 27, 2009 02:33 AMCongrats! I think my attention span is no where near long enough to focus that much on socks!
Posted by: Walden at May 27, 2009 02:05 AMCongratulations! All those gorgeous socks & I am sure you now have a wardrobe of them.
Posted by: Ann at May 27, 2009 01:33 AMThat is impressive. I do not have the attention span to realize that goal. Good on you.
Posted by: Kristen at May 27, 2009 12:45 AMCongratulations! What a fantastic achievement, 52 pairs is something I might manage in a lifetime of knitting, certainly not in the short space of time you gave yourself. You get top prize in my book.
Posted by: Louise at May 27, 2009 12:35 AMWow! Well done Polly. I knew you'd do it (when you were on #51). There's some fabulous socks here! You must be feeling like a child in a sweet shop now - all those 'other' knits you can start. What next? Lace? I'm doing NaKniSweMoDo but it's quite easy (so far).
Posted by: dawn at May 27, 2009 12:03 AMGreat job!
It's really good to test yourself. I'm tempted, but my primary sock size is for a US size 18 EEEE foot. Since I can make 4 socks to his two, I wonder if I could do a 26 pair plunge?
Thanks for the inspiration.
Posted by: Deb in PA at May 26, 2009 11:39 PMgreat job on finishing! I wanted to join for this up coming one but just cannot commit to that much time and effort. It must have been a lot of work on you part. well done!
Posted by: May at May 26, 2009 10:57 PMCongratulations! It's an impressive idea, but to actually meet the goal is amazing.
Posted by: abby at May 26, 2009 10:44 PMWow! Nothing else to say really.
