Inspirations

Thank you all for your kind offer to help translate the German parts of this pattern.

I wanted to have a go at it myself, because, as an experienced sock knitter, the pattern isn't that difficult. Whilst trial and error isn't the most efficient way to go about doing it, a sock is a small and manageable piece. I've even added a few more words to my arsenal. Now, I'll be set if I ever need to mix food and knitting terms in German. ;-)

This is a great little book. So many lovely things, with a folklore touch but still very wearable.

All these gorgeous socks ...

and these beautiful sweaters

for just 5 euros, it was a bargain!!! Very reasonable, especially when you consider the cost of the Noro and Rowan Magazines.

I bought this book several years ago just for the pair with the concha and lacing on the front. I bought yarn and never got around to making them. I'm inspired! I will cast them on as soon as I'm done with my Noro Silk Garden socks. Thanks!

Great patterns, I love that they are all worked in natural colors.

What a great find. I love the socks the most and the green cardigan. Hmm, shall I buy the book?

So are you going to knit all those lovely patterns. Hope so. Wish I had that book and could understand German. Cheers

Fantastic looking patterns! Thanks for posting them.

Do you (or anyone else reading this) happen to know if the buttons/slides on the third pair of socks are common in traditional patterns? I tried to find more information on the Coats GmbH site (I do read German) but found only one reference to that particular pattern in a yarn description.

Now, I've just had to go and buy that book. I love it!! It'll take a while for it to arrive, I expect - but then I can just about still read German, so that shouldn't hold me up too much...

That really does look like a wonderful book. Those patterns certainly are inspiration to learn more German.
