SOS-2008 #2 Started

The second sock is a more complex one, this is the start of the Birch Sock by Nancy Bush from A Gathering of Lace. It makes a slower but more interesting knit. The yarn is Trekkings Pronatura.

I like the fabric, love the colours but the yarn, not so much... (Thank goodness it is an interesting pattern and I'm filled with enthusiasm for these knit alongs). The yarn feels a bit stringy and thinner than you would expect from a sock weight. There were also the occasional lump of white fiber (either bamboo or nylon, hard for me to tell) Yes, the pattern is not hard to memorise... and so pretty too.... I just adore blues and greens together

Oh my is that colour pretty, wish it could come in a non-bamboo version as well as I find the bamboo a little splitty, and not warm enough up here.. Those socks will be amazing!

Go Polly! You are making amazing progress! :-)

I started this sock once, but had to rip it out because it was too small. You inspire me to try again... it's quite possibly my favorite of NB's many sock patterns.

This is a lovely pattern, we can't see the softness of the yarn, but hopefully it will at least soften with the wash?

Lovely pattern and colour. Are you finishing a pair at a time? Or alternating? I can imagine myself ending up with rather a large amount of single socks!

Thank you for reminding me of that sock pattern. It's one I'd like to make too. I'm glad to know the pattern isn't hard to memorise.

Ooh, Ooh. I love it! Yes, the color is really spectacular.

Wow! Your socks are gorgeous, I love them. The yarn looks very effective with that pattern. You've reminded me to find out my copy of A Gathering of Lace, I'd forgotten there were sock patterns in there.

But you're knitting 52 pairs in the year, amongst a lot of other stuff I might add. You are also blogging, being an exchange Mom, and working full time! How on earth do you manage it, do you ever find time to sleep?

Oh, it is lovely! The yarn looks somewhat 'rustic' and I'm a sucker for that. The pattern, though - very sophisticated!

Those will be beautiful socks. I was just looking at that pattern the other day.

Wow Polly - are you on your second pair already?! I'm just on sock #2! Must catch up!
It's looking beautiful, btw. The yarn looks quite interesting, not just a solid block of colour.

It's a gorgeous sock. I always forget about the sock patterns in A Gathering of Lace, stuck at the back after all the lacy goodness. :-)

That is a beautiful sock - you are way further ahead than me.
