SOS-2008 #1 Started

So the start .. or should we say the mad dash for the sock yarn and needles .... I'm planning to post a start and a completion photo for every pair and will have a simple and more complicated one on the go.. yes, living on the edge with 2 active sock WIPs.

I've started with the Garter Heel Sock by Susan Pierce Lawrence from the Vogue Knitting Ultimate Socks Book. I'm not going with the garter heel, I tried it but found that it wasn't as comfortable.





It' s a bit of a cheat sock, because the yarn is Knitpicks Parade.. a DK weight. I should be done with this ... in like, no time ;-)

A sock is a sock no matter what the gauge! And this one should be warmer, too. Enjoy the novelty while it lasts! ;-)

One thing I've learned about socks: Once you get used to knitting them on 0s, size 1s seem like a real treat! Huge needles!! Size 2s? I'm not sure I could get my hands around them. :-)

I missed signing up for SOS - but I am in the 52 pair plunge, and it's all *your* fault! Yes, a long-time lurker lured into lunacy - though there may have been beer involved, too.

Is this your striping yarn which you are trying to use up? Nice colours. I do have some dk weight yarn (but it's horrible to knit with, that Esprit) which might be used in an emergency.

On your marks, get set, go! Have a great time knitting all the socks. Tried to email you but my message bounced back. The green yarn in my stash picture is King Cole Anti Tickle merino yarn - not specifically a sock yarn.
