Lamb and Mutton

The voting for Sylph vs the the Modern Lace Henley was pretty close, but the winner was Sylph. I'm actually surprised that it was so close and even more surprised by how many people didn't like either sweater. I might regret it, but I've cast on Sylph

That twisted stripe requires a wee bit of concentration as I have numerous times, twisted the wrong stitch.

The ribbing looks much different from the magazine. Pretty, but different.

I'm using some Almerino DK in caviar, that I bought from the Yarnhouse last year. Yes, indeed, I'm knitting from stash. I love this yarn and am sad, sad, sad that it's been discontinued. It's very soft and very warm. Not sure that the warm part will be good for spring/summer but the soft part is essential as I can't wear itchy stuff. Anyway, it's just the start and I do hope that I stay focused on it... and I hope that I don't end up mutton dressed as lamb.

I think Sylphi is definitely the better choice. It wouldn't flatter my short-waisted figure, but I like it.

I actually go around to looking at the version without frills today, because I'd dismissed it as a daft idea but it's really nice.. Is that what you are going for, or the frill version? I can only imagine you'll look lovely in either, mutton dressed as lamb my arse!

So glad you chose Sylph. Love the color of your yarn! I can't wait to see the finished product. This sweater surprised me by looking great on every single person in the Knitting Daily gallery - I'm sure it will look fabulous on you.

Wow, that is just gorgeous yarn. I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as being mutton dressed as lamb. That sweater is going to look so great on you! I'm glad you chose Sylph.

my dear there is no way possible for you to look like Lamb dressed as Mutton. None :)

I'm glad that you chose this one, it's lovely. I'm itching to cast on at least 10 garment wips, but am resisting!

That is a PRETTY rib! I don't think you'll have too many regrets, since you are using yarn that you are comfortable and familiar with. Again, as I mentioned before (when voting) that style will be gorgeous worn right off the needles -- or with a camisole or body stocking. What does lamb or mutton have to do with it (unless you're trying to hide from wolves dressed in sheeps clothing?) %^
