Man on a mission

I'm moving right along with the Forest Path Stole... like a man on a mission.

One of the hazards of working on this kind of pattern with dark yarn is that it's easy to reverse the pattern (you end up putting the pattern on, the wrong side.) I did this several times in the last 4 tiers, which resulted in some ripping. Not fun with entrelac since you have to be so careful about not unravelling the wrong squares.

I am determined to get this thing done. It took about 2.5 hours to work up a quarter of one side of the stole. Attaching the edging is a slow, tedious and (dare I say it?) soul destroying process. It's all moss stitch and working it across less than 20 stitches means that the only rhythm that you build up is, turning your work.

I am not attaching the edging as directed in the pattern. Pulling strands of yarn through loops to work on seem like a more complex way to do what I think needs done, so I've modified it, to work back and forth and to attach by slipping the last sts, working a stitch through the shawl and passing over.

I feel your pain re: the edging. I nearly lost the will to live when doing the edging on Jacqui's shawl. But, it's going to be such a stunning piece of work when you are done. I can't wait to see it in person. x

Had a thought about the turning, could you not just slip the stitches along the needle and work on the same side all the time rather having to turn the work?

I'm sure the end product is going to reflect all the time and effort you have put into this masterpiece.

But it doesn't make me want to knit lace...

Good luck!

Hang in there Polly ...it's looking fabulous!

Edging?! You're on the edging!?!?

Oh my word.

Since you didn't mention them, I'm assuming the top triangles aren't too horrible? So it's just the pain of the edging I have to look forward to?

Nothing could destroy your lovely soul, Polly. Determination only improves it! LOL

Your way of attaching it looks good. It'll be so nice when it's done. I hope we don't have to wait too long for a nice bright day to show off the pattern!

Wow, it looks gorgeous already, can't wait to see it finished.

Great, you have about 10 hrs to do! Well done, I know just how horrible it is, all that seed stitch!

It's a shame about your soul and all - but it looks really elegant. Seed stitch is nicer to look at than it is to knit.
