I was so annoyed by the jitterbug fiasco, that I immediately cast on something new, just because it made me feel better. These are the Lighthouse gansey socks by Anne Hanson. I found the lighthouse panel to be really amusing to knit.
Like all gansey patterns, it does requires some attention as to when to knit and when to purl but the added advantage of knitting in the round meant that I didn't have the nightmare of working on the wrong side.
I do realise that as I'm fast approaching the end of the month, I'm going to have to sort out which things to rip or finish to keep my WIP total under 24, as the jitterbug socks*, these socks and the forest path stole** are unlikely to be finished by the 31st.
* I'm probably going to rip
**Currently on tier 23
Wow - those are really pretty and quite different from most sock patterns (which are pretty too - but these are a lovely change).
Posted by: juliet at February 1, 2008 10:48 AMI love the Lighthouse pattern... Anne's such a genius. :-)
Posted by: Beth S. at January 29, 2008 06:34 PMYou are making great progress on the FPS. That is such lovely lace, and I am glad to enjoy other people knitting it!
Posted by: Sarah at January 29, 2008 07:08 AMI'm sorry if you have to rip the Jitterbug socks, but the yarn is nice to work with. I think you won't mind a redo with them.
Lovely start to the Lighthouse socks. Great color too. You're making great progress on FPS too!
Posted by: Wanda at January 29, 2008 06:05 AMI made these Gansey socks too and they are really fun to knit, as well as to wear. (perhaps you saw them on Ravelry.) I modified them to be toe up and they went really fast. So glad you are enjoying them!
Posted by: Darinka at January 29, 2008 04:40 AMWell glad to hear you made your mind up about the Jitterbugs. Great gansey socks, I can't wait to see the finished product. It's very different.
Posted by: Tracey at January 29, 2008 04:30 AMTier 23! Be still my beating heart!!
Posted by: Meg at January 29, 2008 02:10 AMYou're so close to getting the FPS finished! I think you can do this - you have 3 more evenings. I can't possibly finish my nemesis, the Autumn Leaves cardigan by 31st but the first sleeve will be done!
Posted by: dawn at January 29, 2008 12:25 AMI do like your Lighthouse Gansey socks, let's hope that you manage to finish these without them causing you any hassle. Such a pity about the hubbler's socks though, they are a wonderful colour. I hope that you manage to fix them to your satisfaction somehow.
Posted by: Louise at January 28, 2008 11:55 PMThat's a nice pattern & a good color too. I don't enjoy frogging but if it has to be done, then I will surely do it!
