Noro's put out a kureyon sock yarn. I must be the last person on the planet to know this.
Has anyone touched it? Is it as scratchy as kureyon? I'm dying to know, even though the sock knitting mojo ain't around, I am intrigued.
Computer time will be brief today, as I think my cold is flu and I need to get back to my bed. If it wasn't for this NaBloPoMo marlarkey**, I would not have roused myself from my bed to write about Noro sock yarn. You see, I thought that I had dreamt it, so when I got up to get some medicine, I wnewent to my computer to google it , to see if it really does exist. I wonder what the psychiatrists would say if they knew that yarn featured in my fever induced dreams
** Once I sign up to do things, I tend to see them through
Corrections the day after.... was too sick to proof read what I wrote last night.

Posted by: Elisabeth at December 7, 2007 06:56 PMNow I think I must be the last one to know about the sock yarn. I'd be interested in knowing what it's like went knitted and washed, but I bet it's pretty!
Posted by: Shell at December 1, 2007 06:14 PMI stopped by a yarn store in a neighboring city a few weeks back.....it was a slow day for them and the shop was empty. Did not make any purchases...but mentioned to the owner that I was tempted by some sock yarn but made myself put it back.
As soon as she heard I made socks she pulled out a sample of the new Noro sock yarn. And well I was not all that impressed. The colorway seemed a bit odd (normally I love the Noro colors) and the yarn seemed lifeless (kind dull, thin, like over cooked angel hair pasta but thinner, limp & dry is a word that comes to mind) I only got to view on the skein and she did not have any knitted up so I could see the drape.
When released...I might try a skein...but do not think this will be a favorite of mine. By the way my tastes for sock yarns runs to Trekking, Koigu, Lorna's laces and right now I am liking Opal.
Posted by: Eastofeden at November 30, 2007 06:14 PMYou were definitely not the last to know about this. I definitely didn't know Noro had a sock yarn. But after reading Debi's comment, I don't know that I will be too anxious to try it out. Colors are beautiful, but the regular Noro is scratchy enough. I don't know that I want to knit with something that scratchy for feet, even if it does soften up.
Posted by: Wanda at November 24, 2007 11:25 PMWow new sock yarn, just what I need;0)
Hope you are feeing better soon.
A good quality, seeing things through. Though this NaBloPoMo thing has proved more of a challenge for my memory than my having anything to say. The head banging episodes have been very few. Re: the Noro sock yarn, I didn't know about it either. I'll have to check this out. Thanks for the link.

Posted by: angelarae at November 24, 2007 01:37 PMNo no no! I'm the last person to find out! Hope you are feeling better soon.
Posted by: mrspao at November 24, 2007 08:27 AMYou did NOT have to mention the Kureyon fingering! I am totally addicted to sock yarns and I really didn't have to hear about this. I am not listening, I am not listening (fingers in ears) - LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA!
Posted by: Alyson at November 24, 2007 03:34 AMYes - I've heard about Noro Kureyon fingering! I've been stalking it for almost a month now. I spotted some on eBay but it sold before I could type in my bid. My lys has ordered all 12 colourways and she expects it to arrive sometime in Dec. I expect other retailers will have it in stock at the same time. She said that it's quite rough but it should soften up with wash & wear. If you are concerned about the scratchiness, you could lightly felt the socks. The colour repeats are shorter than regular Kureyon.
Posted by: Dotty at November 23, 2007 10:47 PMIt's VERY fine, single ply with some nylon, same long color repeats as Kureyon and good-n-scratchy!
I wouldn't want it on MY feet, just sayin'!
So no Polly, your feverish dreams are not illusion!
Feel better soon!!
Posted by: Debi at November 23, 2007 09:54 PMI've not heard about it at all, until this post. I hope the colour changes are shorter though, and more regular. I've yet to knit with Noro where the yarn isn't knotted, or where every ball has the same colour sequence.
Hope you feel better soon. If it is flu you'll probably turn the corner in about 10 days.
Posted by: dawn at November 23, 2007 09:18 PMHope you feel better soon. Get plenty of sleep and liquids. Maybe the sock knitting mojo will return when the cold/flu disappears.
I've been enjoying your daily posts too.
No you're not the last to find out....I thought it was me!!!! I heard about the Noro sock on Ravelry and, of course, must have at least enough for one pair to try it out. don't know where or when I'll get it though.
I think it should be available very soon and some online places are taking preorders--which seems really risky given Noro's "independence" in shipments, etc.
And, just to let you know, it has been great having so many posts from you recently, even if it is that NaBloPoMo stuff :)
