It was recently drawn to my attention that 2 half socks are even more useless than an single sock. Well, damn it! I'm knitting as fast as I can!
Working the socks on 2 circs has some advantages and disadvantages. The heel turning is a nightmare to negotiate on one set of circs, so I usually move the socks onto a second circular and work the heel turning and gusset separately.

Once all the gusset decreases are done, I'll put this back onto 1 circ to finish. I'm only knitting these in pockets of spare time, so it's 5-10 minute bursts... but with stocking stitch, it doesn't go too slowly...and I'm assured of finishing the pair at roughly the same time... so then it'll be 2 wholes.

Posted by: Tracey at November 14, 2007 05:59 PMI love the colour of the yarn - absolutely beautiful. Your husband has the same taste in socks as mine has - plain and functional! Don't they know that knitters like variety?
Posted by: Mary at November 14, 2007 04:19 PMI'd say you are really moving through those socks. They look good and the hubby should be happy too!
Posted by: Wanda at November 14, 2007 01:02 AMlovely colour and I do like this pattern very much. Are these socks for Christmas? I'vejust read the comments - didn't realise it wasn't just me and a few who love spreadsheets and charts and statistics!
Posted by: dawn at November 14, 2007 12:12 AMI love the colour of the new socks, random lengths of colour like that do lend interest to otherwise tedious stocking stitch. And anything that can take the chore out of stocking stitch is only to be welcomed.
Posted by: Louise at November 13, 2007 11:54 PMLove the colors of the socks. It's great to be able to knit 2 socks at the same time. As I don't like knitting with circulars I have to fight SSS & so far so good.
Posted by: Ann at November 13, 2007 11:36 PMI think knitting both socks at the same time is a great idea. Slow, yes, but you get a usable pair at the same time. Now if only I could find the incentive to do it myself..
Posted by: Steph at November 13, 2007 10:09 PMThe Green-eyed Demon speaking here! You've caught my attention with these "new" techniques for knitting two small-circumference items on lon--n-g circular needles. Not being able to download Adobe for pdf tends to limit my options. Not being able to find a printer that will work w/my computer is a major drag also. So, ever since you first put your latest sock duo online, I've been playing catch-up. I've been trying to memorize the various techniques and then trying to adapt them to my much-beloved set of "Boye" circular needles. (The set has interchangeable needle diameters, 2 thru 15, and adapters for linking various lengths of cable.)I've now discovered that the opening moves of the cast-on requires pulling the doubled over cable back through the beginning stitches -- or sumpin' like that! Oh well, I can certainly admire your work! Gorgeous! I'll be trying to locate some Addy Turbos next time I go into town!
Posted by: Bobbi at November 13, 2007 09:46 PMI do love the colors of the hubbler's soon-to-be new socks.
Thanks for all the sock yarn research. Very interesting. It is being referenced all over the blog world, so those yarn manufacturer's are sure to take notice!
