October Goals

So how did the September goals go? So-so.. there were a few things that cropped up, making goal-driven knitting a lower priority. I'm fairly relaxed about achieving the goals that I have set, mostly because I've set stretch target and with all the other things happening in my life, the knitting is just one of the things that will give.

1. Start & finish the Nancy Bush Anniversary Socks from Favorite Socks

1 sock done. d'oh!!!This makes this another WIP.

2. Start & finish Colinette Scarf for a friend

Done

3. Finish all the knitting for Cheesecake. (Not the sewing, that can wait for the next month)

Not done.

4. Finish the baby chevron.

Not done...there are just so many ends to weave in.

5. Start and Finish the Blue Sky Alpaca Eyelet Cardigan for me.
Done.

6. Be ruthless and frog 10 projects from wip list (I plan to be down to 24 wips by the end of the year)
Almost did it. I managed 9, basically got bored of winding up yarn.

7. Start some simple socks for mom, because I'm going to try to make a half dozen for her for Christmas.

Done... and managed to do not 1 but 2 pairs.

So, at the moment, I have 35 WIPs, that is after dealing with 16 of the original 50 and 1 'hanger-on'er from this month. Not too bad to getting to my goal of 24 by the end of the year.

So the October goals?

1. finish anniversary socks
2. socks - Juta stockings from Folk Knitting in Estonia
3. socks
4. socks
5. socks
6. socks
7. socks

That's right, I'm aiming to do 6.5 pairs of socks. so that I'll be done with my mom's present in October. I can't just send my mom 7 pairs of socks and none for my dad, so I think I'm going to do a couple of pairs for him in November.

.. and no frogging or pressure on the WIP pile ... I'm giving myself some time off for good behaviour.

Your eyelet cardigan is just beautiful!

That's a very productive September with so many lovely WIPs! It's also socks for me for October !

You had the patience to wind so many by hand at once! You deserve an award for that alone...not to mention the very many you deserve for the cardigan, scarf, socks and even for the idea of frogging so many WIPs!

Cheers!

[straight face] So, what about some socks for October? [/straight face]

Oh that cardi alone earned you time off for good behavior. Good luck with the sock knitting.

I'll be right there with you in the sock knitting department. Its most of what I have been doing. However, 6.5 pairs in one month is a little much for me. I might manage 2 pairs.

It takes guts to frog projects, I say. Now, given that I recycle sweaters for most of my yarn, you'd think I'd be used to it, but it's somewhat different taking all that time and effort off the needles and erasing it when you know you've done all that yourself. I still feel a twinge inside every time I have to do that.

I just love the baby chevron. Is it your pattern or is it accessible on the internet?

Posted by: Anna-Maria at October 3, 2007 04:47 PM

You've been absolutely ruthless with those wips ;-) and you've also finished some very beautiful things!

Yeah...I have a couple hanks of yarn I need to wind into balls, but I keep putting it off. I need those 'How Clean Is Your House' ladies to help me get my stash in order...I think they would be appauled!
Where can I find that baby chevron pattern?Very cute!

Please tell me the FPS is not one of the things that got frogged in September? ;)

You have made good progress! But after reading about your WIP pile, I think I have to stop calling my WIPs a pile, there are hardly more than two or three of them.

love the baby chevron and eyelet cardigan very much. I can't imagine if I have so many WIPs, I really don't know what to finish first.

Hey, no public flogging for not getting all of your goals met. I always find that it helps me to make a list so that I can prioritize, but rarely does everything gt done in one go.

The baby chevron sweater is really cute. Besides you'll probably weave in an end here and there on some stuff. You'll get it done eventually.

I'm impressed that you're down to 35 so far.

Good luck with your goal of 6.5 pairs of socks this month.

Love the Colinette scarf! And Kudos to you for all the unwinding... they all look very liberated!

I'm going to get my husband to read this post. He thinks I'm excessive with a mere 5 wips. Very heavy sigh - he just doesn't understand.

Polly, dear, you need a yarn winder. Nice little toll/knitter's toy.

Great looking socks! Almost makes me knit some too. But like you, my WIP-pile is too high already.

Congratulations! To me it looks like you got an lot done. Good luck with all the socks. Maybe all-socks-all-the-time will drive you screaming to weave in some ends, just for a change of pace.

Well done, even if you didn't manage them all. The cardigan alone is worth it.

Good luck for Soctober!
