Broad beans
The broad beans are just running wild this year. The've gained about 4 inches in a week.

Lilly
So Lilly it is. Not just because it's the clear winner but it looks like the most interesting one to knit. (I might regret saying that if it doesn't go well.) If I do get stuck and need something stocking stitch to work on, I can always go and work on this project from October 2005. I found this UFO in my stash tidy and remembered that I'm a 2 fronts away and a sleeve cap away from a sweater. (I know.. shocking, but then I remembered how much 'fun' it was to work on the splitty cotton yarn and then I put it away again. If Saffron can take me 5 years to finish, the raglan cardi can marinate for a bit longer. )
So for Lilly, I was planning on using this.

I bought the Patons DK cotton ages ago. It's a lovely mercerised cotton with a nice feel and a bit cheaper than Rowan's Cotton Glacé and the Jaeger Aqua. One of the problems with not buying Rowan and Jaeger in the UK is that the less prestigious brands tend to offer a much smaller range (and often less sophisticated) colours. Fortunately, Patons has a few nice shades classic shades. I just wish that they would do a darker green and a more intense red. Oh well, one of these days!
Forest Path Stole
As for the Forest Path Stole, I'm now on Tier 14. I managed to finish 3 tiers last week while hunting for the Lilly pattern. I'm really trying to work on this a 1 or 2 nights a week, just so that it doesn't get consigned to the UFO pile.

I'm at a lost to find a way to take an interesting photo to show tier progress, especially, as there are no small children or cats in this household. I'm afraid tier 14 looks remarkably like tier 11.
The Patons ball looks so yummy! And your FPS looks really fabulous...I believe I can see it growing =D
Posted by: Rain at May 5, 2007 10:41 AMI can't wait to see the stole when it is blocked! All the progress shots are a neat teaser to how lovely it will be when you finish.. keep at it ;-)
Posted by: Telmah at May 4, 2007 01:46 PMYou can have a contest - which gets taller faster: your broad beans or the FPS??
Nothing like racing with nature.
Posted by: Sara in VA at May 3, 2007 07:48 PMFPS must be a slog at this stage - but just think how beautiful it will be when finished. Easy for me to say I know, when its not me knitting it!
I love the color of the cotton. I can't wait to see how this sweater knits up. I like seeing pics of the FPS...it does look the same, but even so I figure the more we see it, the closer you are to finishing it.
Posted by: Tracey at May 3, 2007 04:14 PMThe stole is going to look amazing when it is blocked so you can put a lot of pictures up then!
Posted by: Lin at May 3, 2007 12:34 PMLook forward to seeing your progress on Lily. My broad beans are going well too, although yours are well ahead!
Posted by: Mary at May 3, 2007 08:48 AMIt looks great Polly! Good on you for your perseverance!
Posted by: Debi at May 3, 2007 02:32 AMI'm glad you're going with Lilly, such a prretty pattern. Well, if Jenny is only less than 2 yrs old, hopefully you will finish it before it becomes 5 years old. Perhaps you should pick it up and work on it here and there. The color is gorgeous and you said in that post that it's very soft, although splitty.
Posted by: Wanda at May 3, 2007 12:46 AMYou should have had us all pose with it on Saturday, so that it could be stretched out in its full glory. I'm glad Lilly won you over, it's a nice pattern.
Posted by: dawn at May 2, 2007 10:46 PMI'm so glad you're going with Lilly. I look forward to seeing the progress.
I sympathise with your efforts to photograph your stole in an interesting way. I've been trying to photograph my Print O the Waves stole which at the moment just looks a mess! But I'm sure Forest Path is going to be stunning once it's finished.
My Broad Beans are only just peeping through the ground!
