I've never been a tremendous fan of yellow. Possibly because sallow complexion + yellow = looking seasick.
However, this colour combination together makes the yellow look so springy and cheery. This is the first time that I have ventured into knitting with Reynolds Sockotta. This yarn came with high praise from Alpaca Woman.

I have often heard about knitters complain about how cotton blend sock yarns are not comfortable to wear. How they could feel every little purl bumps against their sensitive feet.

With such a colourful and exhuberant palette, I opted for a simple 2x2 rib. Here's proof that I actually made 2 socks

Here are the artistic shots. Sock mascarading as a hyrdrangea flower.

Interesting colour combination, I've never been a fan of yellow myself.
The colour looks slightly like the Dancing range from Knitpicks (especially the speckled effect).
Nice work.
Posted by: Rain at September 8, 2006 06:57 PMLovely socks! I love the slightly candy cane striping effect that you get with that yarn. Assuming you've worn the socks, is the cotton and purl bump thing an issue? I can see that I wouldn't want to walk on moss stitch as knitted with 4ply but I would have though that the continuous 'bumping' of reverse stocking stitch would have made quite a smooth fabric? If that makes sense?

I like the sock flower. I want a bush that puts out socks like that!!
Posted by: Jan at September 6, 2006 02:02 AMI have used this yarn several times and couldn't believe how soft it became after washing. My kids wear the socks without complaint. I have also made baby sweaters from it.
Posted by: linda at September 5, 2006 02:24 PMThe socks look great - are they comfortable to wear?
Gorgeous. I'm onto socks next after the Wensleydale jumper!
Posted by: Diana at September 4, 2006 08:32 PMLove the yellow and blue together. That's so Provençal!! I have to add that yarn on my wish list!
Posted by: Denise at September 4, 2006 08:05 PMGreat socks! You're right - the colourway is springy, and so happy!
Posted by: Charity at September 4, 2006 06:33 PM::giggle:: if you didn't grow blue hydrangeas, make them! Tissue paper flowers might be quicker, though...
Posted by: Alison at September 4, 2006 07:55 AMSockotta is one of my favorite yarns...soft, colorful and you can't beat the price! Just be careful, the color bleeds and fades on the first wash!
I'm with you, can't wear yellow or green cause I look like death warmed over but I love them...feet to the rescue! A girl can carry off any color on her feet, right? :)
Way to go - I tried making socks out of the same yarn/colorway and frogged it after the first sock was finished. My issue was a variegated yarn & lace stitch conflict. Seeing your photos gives me the urge to find a new pattern for that yarn.
Wearing yellow on your feet is pretty safe - it's tough for toes to look seasick!
Posted by: sara at September 4, 2006 03:16 AMthe socks look lovely. Gorgeous colours. I do know your hesitation with the colour yellow..... I look jaundiced in yellow, orange or lime green!!!! Nothing in my stash is in yellow.
