100g of sock yarn is great for a pair of men's socks, but for ladies socks there's always lots left over.

So, I thought, toddler socks.

Voila 2 pairs of socks.

You can see the striping differences bewteen the 2 socks

A whimsy shot...

I stll have about 10grams of yarn left. The toddler socks was done on 48 stitches, while the adult ones were on 72 stitches. It works well and I could easily had done it with longer cuffs but I was a bit of chicken.
They are really cool, like the colours.
Posted by: Anne at May 9, 2006 07:18 PMVery nice! I think I'm going to make tiny sweaters with my leftovers. Toddler socks, though, great idea!
Posted by: Jennie at May 9, 2006 12:59 AMThe socks are great! I'm fairly new to sock knitting, but love the idea of the matching pair... I'm definitely going to have to give that a try!
Posted by: Charity at May 7, 2006 04:14 PMThat was so worthwhile an exercise. They're incredibly cute socks.
Posted by: Mandella at May 5, 2006 06:59 PMVery cute. I do much the same thing which means that the children get socks as often as I do. Although I am about to have to move over to cotton because they're both eyeing their wool socks with suspicion now that it's nearing 80 degrees.
Posted by: Francesca (Stuntmother) at May 5, 2006 02:01 PMYou could always send the spare sock yarn to majorknitter (http://www.majorknitter.com). She's knitting it up into dinky squares to make notelets for charity.

Posted by: Sara at May 4, 2006 01:13 PMHow fascinating to see them in different sizes, both so lovely. That's a rare treat. I would have put away the scraps, not got on to the second pair so efficiently.
Posted by: Linda at May 4, 2006 09:25 AMBoth pairs are lovely, identical twins too! The toddler socks are so sweet, it is hard to imagine that my children had feet that small once. They are both in a size 8 and growing.
Posted by: Louise at May 3, 2006 10:42 PMLove the small socks. What beautiful yarn!
Posted by: Wendy P. at May 3, 2006 07:19 PMPolly,
They're so cute! I've wondered if I could do that with my leftovers, but I've been too chicken to try it since my knitting time is so precious to me. I was afraid I'd get about 1 1/2 toddler socks out of it or something.
I think the striping patern on the toddler pair is almost better than on the adult pair!
Great way to use up yarn. Both pairs look good!
Posted by: Anita at May 3, 2006 04:58 PMThose 2 pairs of socks are way cool!
Posted by: Emy at May 3, 2006 04:13 PMI really do like that peachy-orangey Opal. You've got good taste. ;-)

Posted by: Sarah HB at May 3, 2006 03:01 PMToe up! That way you can use that extra 10g of yarn. It's a really good idea isn't it, do you have a recipient in mind?
D:)
Love the red heel turn of the toddler socks. Don't know why, but that just makes me smile.
Posted by: Colleen at May 3, 2006 02:26 PMI was wondering what to do with sock remanents, now I have the answer. And I guess all of those babies will be toddlers one of these days.

Posted by: jessie at May 3, 2006 10:06 AMThe small socks are so cute! But it is too warm to wear wool socks here already. I have to dig out my cotton sock yarns and start knitting! :)
Posted by: Agnes at May 3, 2006 06:26 AMI love the matching set of socks. This is nice information as I am just starting on a pair of socks for myself and have a four-year-old nephew who is admiring the colors. Looks like we can both be happy.
Posted by: Sarah at May 3, 2006 06:06 AMCute! So where does that leave you with the monthly in-out yarn tally? I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the new totals!
