Simple Gifts

The Mossy socks are done... just look how pretty they are. This is the photo before I washed them.

..Mossy Socks..

The yarn is from Trefriw Woollen Mills. Mulespun worsted yarns tend to come extremely lanolin rich. After knitting, I washed then in cool water with some dish washing liquid to get rid of the greasiness and to let the fibers fluff up a bit.

It's good for boot socks, since you want something thick and cushy. (It's nowhere nearly as soft as the Lorna's Laces or koigu and if you have sensitive skin, you'll probably have to double sock, but it's warm and the yarn is so pretty to look at.)

The artistic shot... grey socks on the grey foilage of my lavender.

..Mossy Socks..

Just a few photos after I've finally made it to the post office to collect a few parcels.

First, Thos sent me some beautiful handspun silk. I have taken it out of the plastic and have liberally stroked it. It's just gorgeous stuff...and might encourage me to give spinning a go.... (I wonder how the hubby would feel about that ;@))

..Handspun Silk..

Thos also sent me some delicious chocolates...by appointment of the Danish Royalty. Yum....!

Now, it's cold outside and I didn't want to put on a coat, and head outside for photos, so I stood by the window and did my best impression of my dad before he got his bifocals many years ago. You know, the one, where you keep holding things out farther and farther to read until the lack of arm length forced you to go to the eye-doctor to do something about the deteriation of your near sight. One of these days that will be me... and I don't mean me with a camera trying to take photos for the blog. Bad eyesight runs in the family.

There was a second 'colie pour moi'. A little RAOK by the delightful Stinkerbell. A hoard of french goodies. (which reminds, me, I hadn't rebookmarked you since you've moved site! eek...!)

..French Goodies..

Like all things French, they are a delight to the senses, well wrapped, feels lovely, smells wonderful and will no doubt taste good too (well all except for the soap). In my short time in France, I can say, it true, the French are really good at presentation... and gifting is an artform.

Thank you my friends.... I am so touched by this... and I have been such a negligent friend lately.

Now back to the poms...

Those mossy socks turned out just lovely. I never cease to be amazed at the rate at which you can produce socks!

I am so very glad that you like the goodies. Everyone needs some Parisian "light" shone their way!

the poms are completely magic-loopable. the only issue is the pattern requires a bit of stitch rearrangement, which is different for two sticks. it really just standard sort of adaption you often have to do with magic loop.

if people just wrote sock patterns in rounds for knitters to work it out for their own number of needles choicesrather than spelling it out with "on needle" instructions, I'm sure it would be easier!

i think next time I do it I'll rearrange them completely so you don't start a new needle with a purl (decrease laddering)

The Mossy Socks are lovely. The colours are so subtle yet rich all at the same time.
