Check out the sheen on that yarn. Look at the cast--on edge. I've finally gotten around to trying a tubular cast-on. It's not perfect, and the sleeve cast on was much nicer (practice does makes perfect).
Almost makes me think that I'll never use long-tail for 1x1 rib ever again. That's how much I like it. I'm so glad that I finally learned how to do this.

In no time at all, the sleeves are about 50% done. Makes me think that it's time to cast on something a bit more interesting, how much stocking stitch can a girl do... I like wearing it but knitting it is .... (yawn!)

Seeing Amelia's photos from Ally Pally reminds me that I hadn't actually confessed my purchases.
I only bought 200g of yarn and all from Touch Yarns. Mind you, I thought I might had to clobber Mary, when she had a skein that I really wanted. Thank goodness there was a second one for me!

I really wanted to get some things from Get Knitted but I wasn't strong enough to fight the crowds (or the woman that snatched the addis out of my hand... like, sorry I didn't realised that you had your eyes on that ) and I reckon that I can alway call up Sue or Carol when I needed something. I'm also waiting for Kerrie to dye some more of the cashmere sock yarn in the Neptune Shade . Let's be clear, I need a pair of socks in that colourway, and I'm checking the site regularly, so if you get there before I do, don't be greedy and leave me at least a 100g, ok?
Posted by atu at October 27, 2005 11:51 PM | TrackBackI love tubular cast on, especially for socks.
All of your new yarn is just too beautiful for words. Do you have plans for it already?
Posted by: Ruth at October 29, 2005 12:50 PMI have put the tubular cast on down as a must learn project, it looks great. And I love your yarns from Touch Yarns, beautiful colours every one.
Posted by: Louise at October 28, 2005 11:53 PMI must learn the tubular cast-on!
Have you tried the alternate cable cast on for 1x1 rib? It's where you alternate inserting the needle knitwise and purlwise between the loops. I really like the look of it. Of course I haven't tried the tubular yet so my opinions may change :)
yummy yarn! I am sure you'll make wonders with those. And i will have to try this casting on as well, it looks very neat and elastic!
Posted by: Stéphanie at October 28, 2005 10:26 AMThank goodness there was enough of the Touch for both of us - I wouldn't have like to come to blows! I must try the tubular cast on, it looks very good.
Posted by: Mary at October 28, 2005 10:03 AMLovely new yarn. The tubular cast on looks great, I'll have to try that some day.
Posted by: eyeleen at October 28, 2005 04:35 AMGorgeous new yarns! And, love the turbular cast-on! I need to try that someday :)
Posted by: Dani at October 28, 2005 03:10 AMMmm, those colors look lovely. I can't wait to see what you make with them.
Posted by: Colleen at October 28, 2005 02:21 AMHaha, I've got my eyes on that sock yarn from Hipknits too! We'll just have to civilized about it. ;)
Posted by: joy at October 28, 2005 01:13 AMthat's very restrained of you, I must say!
Tubular is great for socks too. I usually do a 1x1 ribbing for about 10 -15 rows on all of my socks (even the ribbed ones) and it looks very neat.
dawn:)
Posted by: dawn at October 28, 2005 12:59 AMOh that touch yarn looks so soft! How come I missed that at Ally Pally? or was it all gone by the time I got there on the Friday?
What are you going to make with it, can't wait to see how it knits!
