I can't wait

I've finished necking with friends. I've put all the details here. I've finally managed to get away from my desk and go mail it, so, it's on it's way to Grumperina. I do hope that she likes it.

..Lace Leaf Scarf..

Don't you think it's pretty? Such a pretty blue and in Debbie Bliss's baby cashmerino too.... one of my my fav yarn!

All this working with Debbie Bliss yarns, made me think.. Debbie Bliss patterns. Whenever I see an A-line toddler jacket, I think of Debbie Bliss and one of the many variations of her famous smock jacket. They work up so quickly and are just so darn cute.

Here's one that I did earlier and here's another one.

...tada! ..

I've done this design at least twice more, before I had a digital camera to record it for posperity. So if it worked 4 times already, what's wrong with a fifth? It's not like it's going to the same little girl.

..Smock Jacket..

Here's a close-up of the dreaded smocking. I'm going to have to **sew** contrasting yarn on all the crossing stitches. My mama did not raise a fool, and I have opted for a version with fewer thingies to embellish. Nonetheless, that's a lot of ends to darn in. Any volunteers?

..Smock Jacket..

and finally, this is the Oak Leaf lace shawl that Yvonne made me for my biirthday. Gorgeous isn't it? I'm a lucky girl. It's alpaca so, wonderfully soft. OK, enough of this sunshine, mint julep and shirt-sleeve days ... bring on winter ! I want to wear my shawl!

Can you tell us about the pattern for Grumperina's scarf? That's an interesting leaf pattern. I also visted Yvonne's blog and found that the oak leaf shawl is from Fabulous Filigrees (is that a design company or the name of a pattern book? Must investigate.) I really like it--simple and elegant. Great color, too.
