Secret

Just out of curiosity....

Debbie Bliss Beaded Cardigan

I'm still working on the Debbie Bliss beaded cardigan. Knitting with beads can give a stunning effect but it does make it go a lot slower.

..Beaded Cardi..

Here's a close-up so that you can see the beads better.

..Beaded Cardi..

The yarn had been recycled from the Frilled Sleeve Cardigan that I started in 2003. I ran out of yarn when I got to the second sleeve and left it in my work basket for nearly 2 years. Suddenly, I decided to do something about it and ripped it to start a smaller sweater. I love the Debbie Bliss Wool Cotton and was devastated when it was discontinued. It's a much nicer yarn to knit with than the Rowan Glacé.. must more forgiving on the hands.

It took me ages to find beads in the right size and shade of red. I remembered being annoyed with all the knots in the yarn, but by unravelling, I was able to make many small balls so the knot problem isn't an issue, I just made a new ball whenever I encountered a knot. Hopefully, this time, I won't run out of yarn.

What a funny poll. Good question. I didn't tell anybody at all at first. After a month, I showed it to my DH. Since then, he told one other knitter we met, and another friend found me because I linked to her site. That's it. My children, my DH, and 2 other people, and any knitters who have dropped by. Word will get out soon enough. My brother will probably be the next to know.

I love the sweater. Beuatiful pattern.

I love the way that is turning out! What a beautiful sweater you're creating! I haven't knit with beads before but just got all the yarn to start a crumpet dress for my daughter. It has beading on the top half. I can't wait to get started on it. I'll be back to see the finished sweater! Great job!

Love the beaded sweater and the cabled socks are great too! You're obviously a very patient knitter!

I love the beaded cardigan, Polly, such a wonderful design and colour. I'm only just discovering DB and am sad to think of all the lovely yarns and designs I have missed through my tardiness.

I love the beaded sweater. It looks great. Do you ever have a hard time finding the right beads?

Posted by: Diane at July 29, 2005 03:40 AM

I mourn the demise of Debbie's Wool Cotton too, it gives a beautiful result. Are you having a red thing at the moment or is it just a favourite colour?
