down by the river

Whenever I work on rectangular shawls and scarves, I suddenly remember why I like knitting triangular ones. The River shawl is about 25% complete, but as much I as work on it, it just feels interminable. I find myself stretching in every few minutes and measuring it every time I pick in up in hopes that I would be closer to finishing. The pattern states a finished width of 72 inches, so I've a way to go and with so much finishing done recently, it'll be a treat to be able to knit something that doesn't have a million ends to sew in.

..Get Edgy..

But I do love this pattern and this shade of dusky pink. (Have you noticed how this pink seems to really complement the 'English Rose' complexions?)

Coming out to photograph this, what did I spy? Bold as brass... he was. No, it's not a dog, not a cat .... but an urban fox... in my garden... EEK!

..Fox Alert..

In case you're wondering how he got in, he came over the same way that he left, clammered over a 6 foot fence. Nic had better check out those rabbit hatches ...

Poppy

I've amended my last posting on that orange poppy. Trust me, it's orange, I've seen it in real life ;-)

Oh my! How exciting. But I guess that's not what you thought.

Oh, what a cutie! He certainly looks comfortable in the spring sunshine.

Oh how neat to have a fox in your yard.

I'm not fond of rectangular things either, they just never seem to get done. I think it's merely psychological, but it sure seems that way.

What a sight! I've never seen a fox up close and personal like that. He looks really big... or is that just a trick of the camera?

The River shawl is just beautiful. I have that pattern stashed away somewhere--might just have to dig it out this summer.

Your shawl looks beautiful. As for the fox, I would love to see one that close in my garden... I love them.

Don't already paranoid about the fox it also sunbathes on the garden lawn.
The shawl is beautiful and I love the colour

beautiful lace - the dusky pink colour is very versatile i find, and will look lovely with your sitcom cardi. i've been looking for a triangular lace shawl pattern, not too big, but haven't found anything that's 'just right'. happy fox sunbathing. we had a poor soul in our garden with mange, looking very sorry for himself. needless to say muggins here ended up feeding him honey sandwiches with fox medicine in. *sigh*.

Hey an orange object in the garden, quick grab Sitcom and cover the fox! The shawl is beautiful, such a delicate colour and one of my favourites.

We've had cubs outside, squabbling and screaming (well I hope it's them and not some poor pet).

The shawl is coming on. Instead of stretching it out and measuring it all the time, why not put a safety pin in at the start of the evening, and you can then see real progress.

I know what you mean about ends. I have two garments to tidy up, and am on the sleeve of a third. Looks like June is Sewing in Ends Month. I think I'll pick up my shawl!

Californian poppies have grey, thinner leaves. The leaves look like the numerous Welsh poppies, all yellow, that grow in my garden.I have seen orange ones too.The reall give away is the type of seed pod it forms.Californian poppies have long, thin, pointed seed pods.Welsh poppies have short, round pods.

The shawl/stole is looking gorgeous.Lovely lace knitting.

That dusty rose color does look great on most complexions... and I can't wait to see it finished. Hang in there... you'll make it! It is a beautiful pattern.

A fox! You should feel special he chose your garden for a little nap :) Thanks for sharing those pictures!

At least the fox is reasonably orange, not that horrible mangy grey of so many of the urban foxes. Lovely colour for your shawl, what yarn are you using?
