Green Eggs and Ham

London is one of those cities where there is an abundance of green. Not just the parks in the center, but just about everywhere, even in suburbia. West London is one of the prettiest area.

How can you not love, walking down the Thames Towpath?

..Ham House..
That's Richmond Hill in the background

Half a mile frm Richmond and you feel like you're in the country.

..Ham House..
Of course, to get that green, you need a lot of rain

Sunny days are so treasured because, there really aren't that many of them.

Ham House

Just off the towpath, about a mile and a bit from Richmond is Ham House, a National Trust site. After lunch at Chez Lindsay's we marched walked to Ham House and enjoyed the lovely gardens.

..Ham House..
Doesn't that bench just look so inviting?

..Ham House..
Peeking over the hedge, what do I see.. a formal garden

..Ham House..
Formal garden

..Ham House..
such pretty borders, all in bloom

..Ham House..
Even the exit looked inviting. Stroll down the arch to the car park

..Ham House..
Did I get any knitting done? of course, no visit would be complete without a knitting picture

Aren't lazy Sundays, just great?

Swoon. I miss that. And that cloudy sky. The sky is higher in England than anywhere else.

Thanks for taking me on your walk. I swear, someday I'm going to get to London. It's a huge gap in my travels. x0x0x0x0x

hi polly!,
I loved the french market bag so much I decided to knit it. Thank you for the pattern.
I've used 4 colours and incorporated bobbles (not sure how they'll go in the felting process but I'm keen to find out!
Trouble is . . . I'm at the stage of knitting the bag handles and whether it's my brain at this stage of the process or not but I can't for the life of me work out some of your abbreviations.
For instance what would BO mean? And ssk? Thank you for the time taken to answer my questions.
Let me know if you'd like me to send a photo of the finished item.
Kind regards,
Geri Barr

Sigh...add me to the list of people who are missing London right now. Maybe I'll make it over sometime soon...

Goodness me, is that leafy place really London? It's so lovely that you take the chance to go sightseeing together and enjoy what's around you. Do you get over to Kew to see the bluebells- I've always wanted to do that.

What gorgeous photos. Not sure it sounds like a lazy sunday to me, too much walking, but it does sound perfect. I've never visited that area of London, I can't think why!

I love the photos, now I'll be able to spend the rest of the morning pretending I'm someplace nicer than the concrete bit of suburbia I can see out of my office window!

Loved, loved, loved the pictures. In the US we have some historic places, and some beautiful places, but nothing like Europe. Thank you so much for sharing those pictures.

And what are you knitting from the depths of your bag, is it a sock?

Posted by: Tracy at May 25, 2005 10:27 AM

do you live in west london too? i do, and your pictures have reminded me i should really go and see some of the sights near here!! i heard they're reopening the old kitchen gardens at Chiswick Park, they're meant to be beautiful in an overgrown, delapidated way.
