Crazy

Polly1, Regia Crazy sock Yarn 0

No matter what I did, the yarn runs did not work out so that I could had an identical pair of sock. The taunting was too much. I took out my trusty scissors and MADE them identical.

...voila! ..

That's right, I matched sock to sock and cut. There were a lot of ends to darn in, but who cares, I showed that Regia who was boss...

Don't mess with me Regia, I have scissors and I'm not afraid to use them!

Yea Polly!!! You showed that yarn who's boss! The socks are terrific!

Good for you Polly - you never give in. At least I know what to do when I attempt to socks for the first time, keep the scissors handy! They look stunning.

Don't envy you darning in the ends - I'm currently making a Debbie Bliss pattern with a colour change every 4 rows...lets hope the young man enjoys wearing it!

oh gosh, I woulodn't dare making something like that. Matching them exactly like you did and weaving so many ends would made me crazy!

Well done, Polly on getting the better of the Regia. I always have a fight with that yarn just trying to get the centre pull sorted out. I think Regia has won more often than I have.

That is phenonomenal Polly. Fabulous matching socks but a completely nuts thing to do ! you don't worry you were getting a little obsessed with this pair ???

Still you got straight to the heart of the problem I suppose and well and truly sorted it. The Sock Yarn Universe now trembles at your name ....

Woha!
Hey, paging Polly! It's Thursday already! ;-)

Polly - such bravery! In my knitting basket, scissors and knitting are at opposite ends. Beautiful, perfectly matching result though.

Posted by: Lesley at February 3, 2005 02:32 AM

What did you actually do - cut right across the sock and then graft it? Or do you mean just omitting a length of yarn - no, you wouldn't need scissors for that.

I am gld I am not one of your Regia socks....does your sock yarn stash cower away from you and tremble wen you look at it?

Posted by: Jill at February 2, 2005 10:28 PM

Oh Polly! I tried to do the opposite with my stahl mexiko, knitted the second sock from the other end of the ball, and they pretty muched matched up.

Dawn :) thought you were away? will we see you tomorrow?

Posted by: dawn at February 2, 2005 08:59 PM

What a clever girl! I NEVER would have had the courage. But they look perfect! I love them.

Posted by: Martha at February 2, 2005 06:37 PM

The socks look great! I can't believe the patience you must have to make the stripes match.

Posted by: jillz at February 2, 2005 05:51 PM

HAHAHAHA

Yes MAAM, You are the alpha boss of that knitting and if I were Regia, I would probably be battered into acquiescence right about .... Now! :)

Most felted projects seem to want the knitter to use a double strand of yarn. Is that the same thing with your "French Farm Basket?" Which by the way I love.

Posted by: Cathie at February 2, 2005 04:07 PM

Sticking my nose in here, Marion. M1 means 'make one'. It's a way of increasing by lifting up the strand that lies between the stitch you just finished and the next stitch, picking it up and putting it, with a twist, onto the left needle, and then knitting into the back of it to create a new stitch.

At least that's the way I did it on my French Market Bag.

Polly, at least if it had been Kureyon you could have spit-felted the ends!

Congrats on this stupendous achievement in the annals of Sock Matching History!!! love, Kay

too funny!! and very impressively matching i must say!

Posted by: carolyn at February 2, 2005 12:37 PM

Hee hee hee. I just did the same with some Kureyon - if the stripes don't match just cut the yarn and weave in the ends. I swear finishing the thing took almost as long as knitting it!

Look out here comes Polly, 007 and a quarter, armed and dangerous!

Posted by: Tracy at February 2, 2005 06:06 AM

In the directions for the French Market Bag, what does M1 mean? Round 2 - *K1, M1* around. What kind of a stitch is M1 ? I have my yarn, needles and time ready to start the bag, but I'm stumped. Please help. Thanks!
