Ready, Willing And Able

Do girls just wanna have fun? You bet!

I was visited by Stéphanie this weekend and what fun we had. We managed to visit a pub, the theatre, several shops, the V&A, not once but twice and still found time to meet up with a few Rowanettes at our local hang out, where else?

To further top this off, the lovely Kristine was also in town from Sweden and Amelia was also back from NY. It was bliss to spend a few hours together, to catch our breaths and to pick over the remnants of the Liberty sale, which is now over :-( We still managed to find a few bargains.... I'm going to leave Stéphanie to confess her purchases. I did managed to buy a few things for myself. I also snaffled a few interesting things for my Secret Knitting Pal...whoever she or he is.....

It struck me how cosmopolitan we, Liberty Rowanettes are. Within our little abbreviated group on Saturday, we were 25% English,16.7% Irish, 16.7% American, 16.7% French, 16.7% Norwegian, 8.3% German. We speak at least 5 languages, 3 of us are currently ex-pats and at least 5 of us have also worked in more than one country. We work in a wide range of fields from consultancy to banking to government. It's rather mind boggling that KNITTING brought us together.

We were very well behaved until the Art Bar Café emptied after the lunch rush.

The atmosphere then descended into total silliness as Kristine whipped her sock of the needles and onto her feet. Yes, they fit and look fantastic. Not to be out-done, Amelia also shod her feet and there was a duel of well clad feet. Thank goodness we were not in Thailand!

Kristine brought along her German sparkly number and it looked fabulous. Yes, several of us tried it on.

She also brought along her poncho. It was a failed sweater, resurrected into the Martini pattern from the Braid collection. Sharon had to ham it up and well, can you blame her? It's gorgeous, even if it is a poncho.

Footnote for the girls:

(1) Thanks to Jacinta for the lovely photos. I forgot to charge my camera and after the first few pictures, it gave up.
(2) Stephanie was very good on Saturday, so I let her see part of my stash that night. No, I didn't weigh her when she left on Sunday.

Polly, everyone looks to have had such a good time, no doubt the ABC was a lively place that day.

I just love the German sparkly number, any info on where to find the pattern, pretty please?

I think I'll just direct my friends & colleagues to this post when they joke about knitting being uncool! I just LOVE that poncho by the way.

Hi Polly, it seems you all have a great fun meet up. It is so interesting to know knitters from other countries. I am going to host a meet up on coming Sat. Marjorie and Siow Chin will come to my home. We are not going to public place. So even we are very noisy or putting out feet onto the table, it is still OK ....

Tell me about this poncho pattern - ponchos, Kristine and me go back a long way......

Do you think Libertys will let us in this Thursday, after your shenanigans?
