Friday, I'm in Love

First, the shawl is done and after several rainy evenings, I was able to take it outside for a little photo session.

Why disappoint the neighbours? I mean they do think that I'm nuts.
What do you think? It can double for a curtain panel!

I couldn't resist a side shot, the shawl is really light... I love the way it flutters in the breeze.

It's a nasty little beast to block. Really long and I must had spent about 2 hours, pinning and reshaping. The final measurements were 24 inches wide and 72 inches long. I could had made it about 12 inches wide and about 10 feet long :-).

I did a wet block, essentially, washing and soaking the finished shawl for about 30 minutes. The water turned a vivid purple, leaving me concerned about fading, but she came out vibrant. It took about a day to dry and when it was, the fabric was crisp and light, the perfect little summer accessory.

Denim People Knit-along

The shawl is done, what do you think I'm going to do this weekend? I'll update the participant list tomorrow. I'll have to finalise my decision too, I want to do about 5 or 6 of these designs, so maybe I'll be tossing a coin.

If you could let me know what you've decided, when you've decided as well, so that I can update the listing with what each of you are planning to do. Who knows,.... it might just sway me towards another design not on my short list :-).

If you're interested ... I've 2 packs in All Seasons Cotton. All new, fresh and in the same dyelot for £15 each

These are only £12.50 each. I misread the price on the last packs that I listed and dug around until I've found the receipts. This one is a rich salmony pink called cranberry. Both packs are in the same dyelot.

Let me know if you're interested. I'll add to the listings pages tomorrow.

The shawl is really beautiful Polly. I was hoping it was me you were knitting for but it can't be beacuse I'm not allergic to wool. Hhhmmm I'm going to have to make my own!!!

Amazing shawl! It is just lovely.
I am not certain how I ended up here today, I think it was from another blog. I have developed a fascination for lace knitting lately, and your shawl really caught my attention. Where did you find that elegant edging pattern?

(I notice you have a button for the six sox knitalong. You may recognize my name from there.)

Polly, the shawl is just beautiful, well done on such fantastic work. Some lucky person is going to be very happy indeed when she receives your work of art in the post. Thanks for letting us in on the pattern.

Polly your shawl is really beautiful.I too have some hemp (yarn!) in my stash and had started a cardi that I'm not happy with so I will now happily frog and do a shawl.
Please put me down for Bomber in the knitalong.

Polly, I second Jill's comment, the photos don't do it justice. A beautiful shawl, the colour is lustrous, the texture is crisp... I now know what to do with my hemp!

I meant to type 'striking'....how embarrising is it when you make a spelling error on a comment!

Dazzling, stricking, stunning, and beautiful!

Having been lucky enough to see the real thing, the photos do not do it justice, it has to be seen and felt to be believed. It is what I would call a bluebell blue, and the edging is wonderful, sets it off a treat. Somebody is going to be a very happy bunny!

your shawl looks divine! it must feel delicious draped across your shoulders :)

If the 2 packages of ASC are still available, I'd love them!

Dear Polly

The shawl is just beautiful. I'm lost for words, just drooling at the picture, and reminding myself that I have some lace knitting languishing at the bottom of the knitting basket. Not for much longer - you've inspired me!
