Leader Of The Pack

As one of the Extremities Exchange moms, I'm going to have to admit that I've fallen behind on my thingy. If one had to lead by example, I'm going to be sent to the back of the formation.

The panic has intensified as I see Curly Lis has received her goodies (and that is one fine pair of socks), Triple A Kristine is ready to sew and send hers off and Dolly Dimples Heather has turned her heel! No doubt I will be the last one to finish.

Before you all start asking why I'm behind, I'm going to respond as honestly as I can.

(1) Procrastination - it was hard to decide what to do and what yarn to do it with, so instead of making a lightning fast decision, I debated for days and in the end selected a yarn that I have never used before.

(2) Over optimistic - yes, I thought that I would have a hour or 2 to work on it... but there were the Liberty sales to attend and oh yes, work the thing that pays for the yarn. Of course, I could had compromise by making something smaller, using thicker yarn or using a pattern, instead of designing on the fly, but I'm stubborn, and didn't want the yarn to defeat me. Why did I decide to try a new yarn?

(3) a bit of the perfectionist - * tried new pattern, ripped it out, cursed like a sailor* repeat * to *.

So where am I?

It's about 30 inches long and I need to keep going until it's 72 inches long... armspan of a woman about my size. So if, I'm very good tonight (and a not too exciting movie on) I might get to the 50% mark.

Yarn Liberation

Most of the Liberty Loot has been designated for a new home. I've added an icon on the side menu and I'll let you know when I pick up some more stuff. If you click on the shopping bags, it'll take you to the offerings.

The sales are capricious, in that you never know what might be there, so it's always fun if you go without expectations. Those with expectations are doomed to be disappointed.

I do have some other things to list but it's raining again so I'll list them at the end of the week, after I've posted this lot off.

Polly, I think you are late with your thingy because of the time you spent finishing the Peace Shawl and sending it to my Molly to wear for her wedding. She - and I - still can't quite believe she owns such a beautiful thing.I will send pictures after the wedding - unless you care to show up and take some yourself?

Hey there Polly! I thought I emailed you regarding the Kaffe Fassett Patchwork. Mayhaps I sent it to the wrong email account? I hope to hear from you soon!

To say something topical: I've definitely done #3. Sometimes, in between the cursing and the repeat, I stare at my piece, hoping to WILL the yarn to knit nice. I'm still optimistic this technique will work. Someday.

No. 3 made me laugh. That same thing stands in the way of me finishing anything in a timely manner :)

Polly, I repeat --YOU ARE A GEM!! And, btw...I love your newest foray into lace knitting. Long live the perfectionist!!

And JO!!! How are you and the baby doing????

Can't wait to see what other goodies you come up with, I did order aran wool from the UK, it arrived today and its way to warm to even swatch it!! Hope you had fun in the 2nd round of liberty's sale.

Yvette - No need to be envious... I'm going to get some summery yarns for the next listing... afterall knitting aran wool in June is a bit hot and sweaty.
Jo - rain... I take pictures outdoors without a flash whenever possible. I find natural light works best with bright colours that tend to get distorted by the flash. I've also noticed that indoor pictures can take a yellowish hue.
Dawn - don't worry, I'm sure to he the last one to finish.
Marjorie - I'm sure your recipient will love it. It looks gorgeous.

Trying to work out how the rain fits in here :-)

the sale is so tempting! don't worry about the exchange, I'm sure you'll make it. I've made a pair of hand warmers but I'm worried that my exchange pal might not like it....the color, the material, the style, etc etc

Oh Polly, You are so kind to share, I have to admit to being very envious of everyones list of goodies from the sale.
