The man-raglan has **sort of** stalled. There is only so much simple knitting that a girl can do in a dark colour 4-ply before she starts going stir-crazy. I'm working on the raglan decreases and I'm about to break into the 5th ball. So, I broke and cast on something a bit more interesting.
The best thing about doing baby stuff, is that it finishes so quickly. Just a night's knitting and I've got a whole back done on the second size.
It's a design called Daydream from Rowan Babies and I'm using some Jaeger Pure Cotton from stash, just like I told Lis, that I would. I will knit from stash from the next few months. This will use up 3 balls of yarn.
I love the Jaeger Pure Cotton. It was a more affordable yarn than Cotton Glacé, with the same tension, and the same meterage. I know it splits when you knit with it, but even my tension looked good and it's got a really good sheen to it. Good thing that I stocked up before it was gone for good.
What an adorable sweater!
I want a little sister! sniff.
Really amazing kniiting, as always Polly!
Both baby sweaters are tres cute ! And the striped one would be perfect for a lil dude :)
That's so pretty! I used Jaeger Pure Cotton last year for my youngest daughter and it wears really well - in and out of the washing machine!
Posted by: Anita at April 29, 2004 04:21 PMI love the baby "Daydream" cardigan the pattern is so sweet. I think the stripey jacket will be perfect for a little boy too... Cor, hasn't the weather changed in the last couple of days, at least you will get some more wear out of your "Peace Fleece" jacket now Polly... Luv Jan xxx
Posted by: Jan at April 29, 2004 03:07 PMI really love that little baby's jacket - that, along with too many others, is on my "list". However, like Heather, the babies will be women before I knit through the ever increasing list. The stripey cardi is perfect for a little boy and stripes always look so good.
Posted by: Lesley at April 29, 2004 03:40 AMWhere can I find the pattern to that striped cardigan? Is it a Rowan pattern?
Posted by: ruth at April 29, 2004 02:31 AMI know exactly what you mean Polly - baby and children's knits are so satisfying when you need a quick return for your efforts. These are both lovely patterns and I really like the bottom edging to Daydream. I may have to get Rowan Babies - I had resisted up until now on the grounds that I have so many baby patterns already that my children will all be in their 20's before I've finished knitting up the ones I like !
Posted by: Heather at April 29, 2004 12:25 AMWhat beautiful cardigans they are, definitely a pleasant change from knitting such an expanse of dark 4 ply. I think the striped cardi will be perfect for your nephew with the buttons swapped over, and in that beautiful blue too.
I'm afraid I discovered Jaeger pure cotton far too late, which is just like me. Always behind everyone else at trying different yarns. Maybe one day I'll be more adventurous and try new things before they are discontinued.
Posted by: Louise at April 29, 2004 12:23 AMDear Polly,
What a pretty pattern that is - and you really do knit at quite a speed!
I absolutely agree about Jaeger pure cotton - I have a pack and a half in a strong red, and I'm dying to make something for myself with the unopened pack. The opened pack is to finish Kira from Rowan #31 - now you know why I'm in awe of your speed-knitting. Keep inspiring, us, please!
love,
Jen
I love that baby sweater. I saw it just the other day and was wishing I had a baby girl to knit it for.
And the striped cardi? Perfect for a little boy!
