The Lacy Sweater Knit-along
Happy Valentine's Day! Ladies and Gentlemen, mark your calendars, the Lacy Sweater Knit-along is starting on March 1st. Princess Tiffany, very kindly, made us a fab button. Feel free to steal it and send Tiffany a big thank you for our knit-along button.

It ought to be a fast knit, since the largest size (3-4 year old) only uses 7 balls of Rowan Handknit DK. With a 28 inch chest, Rowanette Jill is making it for her 7 year old grand-daughter. You can start when you like and if you don't have your own site, I'll happily post your work on mine. Doesn't this pattern make you want to start knitting for every little girl that crosses your path?
So who else is working on this delightful sweater?
Rowanette Jill (started it already, for her slim 7 year old grand-daughter)
Rowanette Lesley(may do 2, one for each grand-daughter! Wow, what lucky kids to have a granny like that!)
Rowanette Dawn (started it already and does not like the way the pattern is written and noted that the picking up stitches at the border may make the pattern bag out. )
Rowanette Louise (who may join in, she's got the little girl that would get it, just not the wool)
MDK Kay (who might end up doing 2 of them. One for Rosie and another for her skinny 7 year old)
Kerrie's Place Kerrie (starting in a couple week's time)
Princess Knits Tiffany ( yarn on order)
Socka Socks
The socka socks, I'm making for a friend's mom is Socka Carnival. The Socka yarns, like Opal are limited runs, so very difficult to get after the initial batch is sold. The colour is 9079 (melba/bunt). I really like them and regret not getting another ball when I bought them. I got them from Martina in Germany.
What kind of yarn am I?
Did you have any doubts that I would be anything but the most decadent? Please, could someone explain this to my husband? Obsessions with expensive wools and handbags are not necessarily bad things!

What kind of yarn are you?
Finally ....
Thanks to everyone for your kind words about my granny.
Posted by atu at February 14, 2004 05:31 PMCan I join in the knit-along? I think my cousin's daughter (nearly 2) would look adorable in this sweater.
Posted by: Katie at February 21, 2004 04:30 PMCan I join in too? The sweater is adorable! I'm off to check my stash...
Posted by: Louise A. at February 15, 2004 03:37 PMMan I love that sweater! I have a 2 year it's perfect for. The problem is I'm a brand new knitter. Just started last month. I'll be following everyone's progress though. Hopefully I'll be able to knit it in the future. Can't wait to see how it goes for you.
Posted by: Laura S at February 15, 2004 02:09 AMI started the lacy sweater tonight and I am also a bit worried about the border. It's narrower than the rest of the sweater and I wonder how it will fit. Pity you can't see it in the picture.
Posted by: Marie-france at February 15, 2004 12:01 AMWhat better excuse, if excuse be needed for popping into the yarn department at Liberty when I visit. Now all I need decide is what colour, so many beautiful colours to choose from I hope I can just stop at one.
And thanks for the info on the sock wool, Polly.
