I've managed to catch myself a cold and am now suffering from a sore throat, runny nose and just a general feeling of extreme laziness. I did manage to finish these earlier in the day.
It goes much faster on 6-ply yarn than the finer stuff that I'm used to. It's a very toasty sock and I've cheated on the second foot, but it's hardly discernable, so I'm sure my mom won't object. So the Walking Away / Pleased to Meet You Sock-along has come to a close for me. Well, after I block the second sock, it'll come to a close. I've misplaced the hanger that I use for blocking and don't have a spare one at hand... but with all that ribbing, it needs to be blocked properly for the pattern to be fully appreciated.
Now, to get myself some lemon and honey tea.
Thanks for the kind words on those socks.
Thos, my mom thinks ginger cures everything.
Louise, Rene, Sue, Stephanie, I'm feeling a little more human today. I HATE getting sick!
Posted by: Polly at January 21, 2004 08:53 PMCute socks! I bet your mom will love them. Wish you a speedy revovery, honey and lemon help a lot, for sure, and i'll check this other reciepe as well, you never know...
Posted by: Stéphanie at January 21, 2004 02:05 PMSo sorry about your cold, Polly, try steeping a couple of slices of lemon in boiling water and drinking the infusion. Works wonders for me every time.
Your mom will be thrilled to bits with the socks, they are beautiful.
Posted by: Louise at January 20, 2004 07:53 AMLove the socks Polly, I'm sure your Mom will be delighted. The colours have really come out in the Peaks. Am also in possession of lurgy at the moment and failing Thos' suggestion of ginger lemon tea, might I remind you that several WhiskyMacs always seem to do the trick. The recipe is 2 parts whisky to 2 parts ginger wine. Never fails to render me unconscious. It helps if you drink several.
Posted by: Sue Adams at January 19, 2004 09:09 PMTry this Ginger-Lemon-tea. It is crass on the throat going down, but it really helps: http://ashycook.topcities.com/drinks/gingerlemontea.htm
