Sweet Petunia

Fleur
Texture knitting is my 'comfort' knitting. The patterns develop ever so subtly and changes ever so slightly in different light. I cast on Fleur on Friday and was chugging along so well that I brought it along for the Darlington trip. I discovered (rather rudely) that I was making very little progress and only managed to do a few inches. So, I picked it up yesterday and finished the back and one of the front. See, how pretty the flowers are?

Most of the back

It's just knit and purls but very effective. I lightly blocked this with my steam iron. It looked like an old dish rag when it came off the needle.

Fleur is from the Louise Harding Miss Bea's Colours. It's a fab book. The patterns are relatively easy and also interesting to knit.

Darlington
Speaking of Darlington, I did have a photo of Kerrie.

:-)

I took lots of pictures, but in my excited state, they didn't all come out nicely. Kerrie's here with Chris, the Rowan consultant at Binns. Here's looking at you Kerrie.. are you sorry that you posted a comment now? ;-) I did have proof that you made it to Darlington, even if you snuck out before the group photo.

It looks a lot prettier on this site than it does in the book! I have done a striped sweater from one of the Miss Bea books, and also a striped pinafore dress, lots of pink in it, which was well received. I think the books are very well designed, even though you need to enlarge the charts. particularly like the new one - Miss Bea's Rainy Day - simple cables on everything.

It's soo cute, I definitely have to find a little girl in my surrounding to knit it for. With only 5 nephews, this is already a task...
Thanks for making us look closer at these little books, I think I'm going to get this one.
Love,

Stéphanie.

Louise - Thanks for clarifying that, otherwise I would be trying to pen you a diplomatic email about how the poor child is going to be teased for wearing a flowery cardigan. Most of the patterns are charted and I would recommend that you get the charts enlarged and use a highlighter to mark the garment size.

Emma - Are you reading my mind? If my daisy doesn't go well, I'm going to do embossed flowers using the daisy chart. So I was doing the little cardigan as a kind of experiment. I haven't gone flower-mad.

Kay - I thought thay might find something for Rosie from this book. Most of the patterns are done in cotton... and they will knit up quickly too. Fleur only takes 5 balls for the largest size...and I do have 6 balls of Jaeger aqua in cranberry in stash ...if you're interested.

What I love about Blog World is that I had this book and really paid no mind to Fleur. NOW I see. There's tons of things in the Louisa Harding kiddy books I'm planning to knit for Rosie (who's now TWO!! but a tiny two), and Fleur must be on the list, since la rose est une fleur. Thanks for the enlightenment. Love, Kay

Should have made clear, Coby isn't getting Fleur but the Digging sweater, I think he will look cute in it.
