I'm so excited...

So after the first false start, I've finished knitting the callinectes bag and after correcting the speling, so that my father-in-law will not feel obliged to rename his boat to save me further embarassment. Roll on weekend, so that I can go get me some metal rivets, or as I've read from Ann, grommets. I've even put in buttonholes for the rivets.

looks better when the spelling is right!

I can't wait to finish this present because I have so many other things that I want to start knitting...and I'm also going up to Darlington on the 27th of September, to meet Emma , Sissel and Kerrie. It's all so exciting.. fever pitch really... how will I survive work for the next week? It's the same feeling as having a big secret and no one to tell it to ;-).

Thanks
.. to everyone for their many suggestions on the 4ply raglan sweater. I did notice the really lovely one that Becky made her husband, but unfortunately that is far to *fashionable* for my husband, who prefers a much more vintage look. I think my friend Sam might have found exactly what I'm looking for today in John Lewis... so I just might be saved.

Polly--re: boring (but extremely nice as befits the spouse of La Polly) sweater--Lis made the 'Yankee Knitter' raglan in Cascade 220 for her friend Sam--she added a few rows of Silk Garden at the rolled collar--and it is such a nice, plain, MANLY sweater. Let us know and we can pick up the leaflet for you at Downtown Yarns--plain sweaters for all sizes from baby on up. Not that you couldn't figure it out without a pattern but why should you? Why tempt fate and risk another Callinectes Situation???

Re: your upcoming trip to EmmaLand--I am so very, very envious. Please say hello to all 3 of our virtual pals. Let's start the long-range planning for some kind of Rowanette International Festival. Years in advance so no one will have an excuse not to work it into their life plan! Pajama parties, whine and sleeves parties....a whirl of exciting activities to which one can bring one's knitting.

Love, Kay

Polly,

I also have the Ann Budd book o' patterns, you pick a gauge, she gives a sweater. And I am a huge loser and purchased the sweater wizard software, can plug some stuff in and send it to you as an MS word doc if Sam's sweater isn't *Quite right*

the other thing is the software from www.knitware.ca - you can just plug in your gauge and finished size and it will cook up a perfectly generic (read: boring) sweater for your honey. I downloaded the demo a couple of weeks ago and have come up with a couple of sweater patterns already. I've got some fuzzy yarn, so the boring sweater pattern is just what I needed and you can do most everything withe demo version.
Acres of stocking stitch, eh? Sounds like U-Bahn knitting to me (that's when I do most of my stocking stitch for socks). You could also threaten to teach him to knit if he doesn't relent to allow you a tiny bit of variety - even just a small cable. LOL
Wishing you a lovely weekend (with lots of variety),
Kathleen

Hi Polly. Thanks for the mention! This is the first time I've come into your weblog and I like it. How fun to find another knitting weblogger in Europe!

Oh, Polly, grommet, rivet, little metal thingy--whatever they are, they are incredibly cute on that hat. Threading a cord through those holes is going to be irresistible, of course.
